Novell wedding bands
The question – what does the average wedding band or wedding ring weigh or cost? – is used as a search query on Google and Yahoo! quite a bit. And whenever I see it (or a similarly phrased question), I often wonder if people ask similar questions such as:
- What does the average automobile weigh or cost?
- What does the average house weigh or cost?
- What does the average building weigh or cost?
For many of these items, perhaps you can come up with an average cost if you indeed define the parameters first. But is an average automobile defined as a make or model that’s directly between the least expensive Kia and the most expensive Mercedes? Or is the average house defined as what may fall directly between a small one bedroom home in Biloxi and a mansion in Beverly Hills? What defines what average is in every single case? Yes – you can say that an average car may be something like a Honda Accord with all the bells and whistles. That is fair, and pretty concrete. And an a three bedroom house with a backyard located in the suburbs of Chicago just might be about as average as you can get. So I’ll go along with that as well.
But with wedding rings and wedding bands, consider that “average” can mean so much. Many manufacturers may make a heavier, hand-crafted band that is made in America by individual craftsmen. While other companies will import wedding rings and wedding bands that use less metal and can be mass produced at a great volume. There are jewelers that are willing to charge less to make a sale when a competitor down the road may be looking for a higher profit margin for the exact same ring, and will stick to their guns at even the cost of losing that sale. Please keep in mind that these jewelry stores will be the first to call to complain that a manufacture’s retail price should be strictly enforced like Rolex does, and this can’t and probably should not always be done.
Believe it or not, there are a lot of factors that need to be identified before you can really define what and average wedding band or wedding ring is. They may include:
- Origin of manufacturing – is the ring made in America or imported?
- Metal type – is the ring platinum, palladium, gold, silver, tungsten, titanium, ceramic, etc.?
- The amount of metal used to create the ring in general (including width, height, heaviness).
- Are there any diamonds or precious stones? If so, how many are in the ring? And what is their size and quality?
- Point of purchase – are you in a mall store, an outlet or established jewelry retailer?
- Brand – are you purchasing from an advertised designer or company, or from a generic source?
The list can go on and on. In reality, there is a lot that can go into making a wedding band or wedding ring. Before you can answer – what does the average wedding band or wedding ring weigh or cost? – you really first need to think about the desired characteristics and metal, and then go from there. And remember that not all companies create the same type of wedding band or wedding ring the exact same way. There are many ways to create jewelry in general, so keep that in mind as well.
I know – this is enough to make your head explode! But a little research will really go a long way.
