The author goes on to say that you may be able to save money but making the engagement ring and wedding ring purchase together. While this is good advice for some, it may not be good advice for all. Why? You may want to consider that many brides lose weight for their weddings, so the ring that was purchased a year ago just may not fit when it comes time to slip it on her finger. But I do agree that couples should really start thinking about their wedding rings in advance, even if they wait until closer to the wedding to buy them. Most couples buy their wedding rings through a source that is different from where they bought the engagement ring. Sometimes with jewelry, a relationship can be leveraged. Couples that have spent thousands on an engagement ring may get a discount on their wedding rings, so be sure to ask the jeweler what they can do for you.
